A Happy Home

Team: Solo Duration: 4 Weeks Tools: Adobe Illustrator, After Effects

Project OverviewA Happy Home is a campaign aimed at promoting government funding and fostering connectivity among multi-generational households through the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Drawing from personal experience as a beneficiary of this program, I deeply understand its profound impact on low-income families. My objective was to raise awareness and destigmatize government assistance by crafting a campaign that exudes warmth, inclusivity, and familiarity. The campaign's concept, reminiscent of a collage of home, underscores the notion that homes are comprised of diverse elements, yet it is connection that unites us. This sentiment underscores the importance of household connectivity.

Animation

At the heart of the campaign is a 40-second animation comprised of home videos showcasing individuals joyfully utilizing technology within their homes. This collage of warmth and familial connection, rendered in a distinctive cut-out style, serves to imbue the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) with a familial essence.Through these heartfelt portrayals, the ACP is seamlessly integrated into the fabric of family life, evoking a sense of belonging akin to that of a cherished family member. The repetition of the wifi symbol is used as a pattern throughout to create harmonious compositions that stay true to the core them

The opening stages of this project were grounded by the song chosen for the animation My-Story Of Love (Instrumental) by Shafiq Husayn. It set the tone for the animation as a playful, celebratory, and colorful message. I had envisioned using videos of real people interacting with each other and connecting through their technology, so several home videos were sourced to incorporate into the narrative.Furthermore, when determining a style guide and set of symbols, abstracted versions of the wifi sign didn’t seem to read well, so instead the more finalized explorations used the wifi sign as pattern, tying the project together with a conceptual framework behind the iconography.
